Connecting a Custom Domain

Serve your help center from your own domain, like help.yourcompany.com, instead of the default tryalps.app address.

By default, your help center is available at a tryalps.app subdomain. If you'd rather your customers see your own domain, you can connect one instead.

Before you begin

You'll need access to your domain's DNS settings, since connecting a custom domain requires adding a DNS record that points it to Alps.

Connecting your domain

Go to Settings, then Domains, and open the Knowledge Base tab. Enter the domain you want to use, for example help.yourcompany.com, and add the DNS record Alps gives you at your domain provider.

What happens next

Once the DNS record is in place and has propagated, which can take anywhere from a few minutes up to about half an hour, your help center becomes reachable at your custom domain with a secure certificate issued automatically.

Troubleshooting

If your custom domain isn't working yet, double-check the DNS record matches exactly what Alps provided, and keep in mind DNS changes can take time to propagate fully even after they're saved correctly.
